As a young girl so mesmerized with Cinderella and still today, her teen room is full of Cinderella memorabilia – Courtney Lynn Lopez’s magical dream of experiencing a Cinderella moment happened for her on Sunday, September 23, 2007, in Middleton Wisconsin.
“Our church mouse, Courtney - how wonderful . . .” her high school principal stated after finding out about her new title as Miss Wisconsin Teen USA 2008. Yes, Courtney is known for her quiet reserved nature, but can certainly light up on stage as she feels most comfortable performing. No stranger to the stage she has danced since age 4 performing in numerous recitals with Young Dance Academy and Studio 21. She is extremely proud to have danced with the Milwaukee Ballet Company as a Solider in the production The Nutcracker and also as a Time Gnome in Cinderella. She is a 3-year member of her high school Pom/Dance Team that has attained classification as a Championship Midwest Team – Most of all she loves being part of all the Pom/Dance Competitions. She was selected as a Badgerette Dance Starz (2 years) and traveled to New York for the tour and dance instruction. She hopes to instill her love of dance by teaching Pom/Dance at Studio 21 to young girl’s age 5-7 that are on the Oak Creek Pee Wee Pom/Dance Team.
A senior at Oak Creek High School, Courtney is currently studying in a specialized Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program and plans to launch her nursing career by obtaining her Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. After her High School graduation in spring of 2008, Courtney is planning on attending college to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Her ultimate dream is to be employed as a Registered Nurse on a Flight For Life Medical Team. She hopes to acquire modeling jobs to assist with her college expenses along this journey.
Courtney feels her title of Miss Wisconsin Teen USA will be evidence to young girls and teens that the average girl next door can achieve her dreams. “It’s OK to be the average girl – We all have something in our lives that we feel may hinder our potential – but you need to word harder at things and keep focused by your determination to achieve your dreams.” Courtney hopes to be an example to everyone that overcoming obstacles, such as her own shyness and being an average student, can still open doors of opportunities. With extra hard work and determination, your dreams can be within your reach.

Why is Miss USA 1988, Courtney Gibbs, pictured on the first page of Courtney Lopez’s baby book? Because Courtney’s Mom loves watching pageants and is so thrilled at the success and opportunities pageants bring to young women that she decided to name her daughter after this Miss USA who stood out so much to her back in 1990 when “Courtney” Lynn Lopez was born.
